The Grants' Bulgaria Blog.

We are Elly and Stu Grant and this blog will be the best way you can keep up with what we’re doing overseas.

What are we doing? We’re going to Bulgaria for 12 months to visit friends of ours – David and Kathryn – who are working as missionaries. We will be helping with the home-schooling of their son, Aydin, who is five-and-a-half. We will also be getting a taste of what long-term missions work is like to see if it’s something we might one day do ourselves!

We expect that our time in BG will be exciting and possibly difficult. Our main challenges will be learning Turkish (and a bit of Bulgarian), learning to teach Aydin, and coping with the cultural upheaval we will no doubt experience. By the end of the year we would like to have a more informed opinion of whether we would like to pursue long-term mission ourselves, as well as a better understanding of what God wants to do in our lives as a whole. We would also hope to return to Australia with a better appreciation for life in a Western country and a desire to embrace whatever challenges await us on our return!
