Happy Birthday Aydin!

Today, Friday 10th, was Aydin’s 6th birthday! This day also coincided with the last day of school for the term (NSW school terms) so we decided to completely write it off and headed for the pool. This was a complete surprise to Aydin who had been convinced that we were going on a ‘very educational school excursion.’

We all had a lot of fun. Aydin was presented with a brand new kickboard (the gratitude he expressed was priceless) and played happily with it for 1 1/2 hours, occasionally going over to the bigger pool with Stu and I for a proper swim around.

Stu and I are a little sunburned, but we didnt’ neglect to sunscreen up Aydin so we are responsible after all! Phew!

Off to dinner now – birthday boy’s choice of sausages in bread! Hopefully the new car will be there (The Richards’ car got hit head on whilst parked and is irreparable) for us all to admire.

We’re off to a village over the weekend, will post about it on our return on Monday.

Kickboards are great: hours of fun in the sun while we laid in the sun and were all Tasmanian and neglected to put on sunscreen. Actually, considering how long we were in the sun the sunburn is very mild. David and Kathryn laughed at our Tassie-ness!

Amelia – don’t you worry. It will certainly get very cold. Hot first – we experienced a very hot summer last time we were here (late August 2007) with temps consistently in the high 30s. Winter will be very cold. A local did tell me that ‘last winter wasn’t as cold, it only got to -17°C.’ So we expect a white Christmas!

definate mood-swing from mother nature there…
snow ROX! Aydin’s gonna be kickboard for turning 6 and tobbogan for christmas!
