Welcome!
08May09
(posted by stuartgrant)G’day to everyone who’s checking out our blog for the first time!
12 days until we leave – we’re putting together everything we think we need to take with us. It’s a bit daunting trying to think of every item we might need for the next 12 months – stuff for travel, everyday things, our hobbies… not to mention clothes that will see us through a hot summer and freezing winter!

This is a small pile of our packings – much more to add to it before we cram everything into our packs!
Any suggestions for must-have items for a year away? (You’ll notice we’ve got the coffee gear already! Not much chance of me forgetting that…).
Anyway, just a quick post to say welcome. If anyone wants to pray for us, we’re still waiting on visas – they really should be here this week! Cheers.

Hey Dan,
We’re going to: a) reduce coffee intake
…. b) take a fair bit of coffee with us (maybe 2 months’ worth – might get stale by the end but probably still fresher than what’s available!), and c) search madly for freshly roasted stuff. I don’t think I could justify roasting coffee over there!

Hi EllyStu!
How are you?
Hope flights are sorted out for you very soon!
I saw the Italian Coffee Maker amongst the stuff you are packing – aren’t Turks famous for Coffee consumption and you can have plenty there?
Also… I heard that Aluminium in that coffee maker causes adverse long-term effect on health (Alzheimers).
